In 2025, we laid the groundwork for what’s coming in 2026:
In October we launched Seantience, our first documentary about the sentience of aquatic animals, especially invertebrates. Recognition came quickly: award for best cinematography at the International Animal and Environmental Film Festival (FICAA), and selection at SUNCINE. But beyond the awards, what matters is that we helped bring attention to the situation of billions of animals whose suffering is systematically ignored.
At the same time, we continued our educational work with eight university courses in Brazil (more than 2,000 participants), published a complete collection of twelve books on animal ethics (with over 7,000 total downloads), launched our website in Japanese, the course on wild animal suffering in Hindi, and began production of our second documentary: AI and Animals.
In 2026, we will dedicate our efforts to three of the most neglected areas within animal advocacy: the implications that AI may have for sentient beings, aquatic animals, and wild animals.
In January 2026, we will launch AI and Animals, a new documentary that explores how artificial intelligence will transform the lives of animals and how activism can leverage AI tools to amplify its impact.
This is a largely unexplored area in animal advocacy, but the implications are enormous: from using AI to monitor and help wild animals, to the risks that automated systems may perpetuate or amplify their exploitation.
Our objectives:
·⠀Launch the documentary in multiple languages and turn it into an educational resource available for educators, the academic and animal advocacy community, and effective altruism groups
·⠀Organize thirty screenings and talks in regions across Europe, Asia, and America
·⠀Produce supplementary materials on AI and animals
·⠀Position this debate on the animal advocacy agenda
The success of Seantience in English and Spanish in 2025 was just the beginning. In 2026, we want to increase its distribution to reach a broader audience about the consequences of speciesism suffered by aquatic animals.
Our objectives:
·⠀Translate the documentary, website, and reports into Chinese and Portuguese
·⠀Conduct at least twenty new screenings and talks, especially in Asia (where the exploitation of aquatic animals is most intense)
·⠀Create educational packages for teachers and activists who want to use Seantience as a tool
·⠀Establish partnerships with local organizations in each region to amplify the message
Aquatic animals, especially invertebrates, represent the vast majority of animals exploited by humans. Therefore, changing society’s attitude toward them could be one of the most effective interventions to reduce animal suffering on a large scale.
In 2026, we will take the debate further with a new documentary and reports on how we can help wild animals, with ethical interventions that are already being carried out, and exploring new ways to reduce their suffering.
Our objectives:
·⠀Launch the documentary in English and Spanish, and turn it into an educational resource available for educators, the academic and animal advocacy community, and effective altruism groups
·⠀Publish at least two technical reports with case studies and concrete proposals
·⠀Organize talks and workshops at universities and other educational spaces on the topic
·⠀Hold meetings with research teams and activists focused on this area
Wild animals suffer and die for multiple reasons, such as disease, hunger, or extreme weather conditions. Developing and implementing ethical and effective ways to help them could reduce an immense amount of suffering that is currently completely neglected.
In addition to these campaigns, in 2026, we will continue our educational work through our university courses, conferences, and publication of new articles. Thanks to the production of our documentaries, we will have the opportunity to open new debates, and with the additional educational work, we can create lasting change.
Today, there is very little work being done on these topics. And precisely for that reason, the marginal impact of each dollar, each hour of work, each resource we create, is enormous.
We would like 2026, with your help, to be the year when these topics go from being marginal to becoming global debates.
These are some of the things we’ll be able to do thanks to your support:
·⠀$300 covers a complete screening of Seantience with discussion at a university
·⠀$500 enables the creation of an online course for university students
·⠀$1,500 enables the creation of downloadable educational materials
·⠀$2,500 enables dubbing a documentary into a new language
Every euro translates into animals whose suffering is made visible, into students who transform their way of seeing other sentient beings, and into resources that activists around the world can use to amplify their impact.
Additionally, until January 7, a generous supporter will match all donations up to $30,000. This way, your donation of $200 becomes $400, and one of $1,000 becomes $2,000. Only a few days left for this opportunity to multiply your impact!
Your support will help us continue this important work in 2026
Nothing we accomplished this year would have been possible without the support of people who, like you, believe that another world is possible. People who understand that real change requires rigorous, systematic, and long-term work.
Thank you for joining us.
