Animal Ethics talks in the US, Peru and the UK

Animal Ethics talks in the US, Peru and the UK

27 Apr 2015
Animal Ethics talk at the University of Reading. Animal Ethics gave two talks in the UK earlier this month, and has more talks coming up in Peru and the US. These talks have the aim of raising awareness about speciesism and the situation of nonhuman animals. We will soon hold events in other countries too.

Earlier this month, on April 8th, we gave two talks in the UK, at the universities of Oxford and Reading. One of the aims of Animal Ethics is to promote concern and debate about speciesism and the consideration of nonhuman animals in academia. The talk at Oxford was hosted by the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, and the talk at Reading was hosted jointly by the Department of Philosophy and Reading Vegetarian & Vegan Association.

On April 30 we’ll be giving a conference simultaneously at two universities in Peru, in collaboration with a local student organization in defense of animals, Proyecto V UNALM, that will host the events. The talks will take place at 2:00 PM at the National La Molina University (in Hall A4)  and the Pontificia University (in room Z 213), by video conference.  For more information, you can check the Facebook event of the talk (in Spanish).

On May 3 there will be a talk in Oakland, California at Two Mamma’s Vegan Kitchen. In this talk we will explain why we think challenging speciesism is a very important task today. We welcome all people interested in learning more about why we should respect animals to attend! The event will take place at 2:00 PM. The address is 3700 E 12th St., Oakland. You’ll can also visit the Facebook event page for this talk.

Through these events, more and more people are becoming aware that in order to really help nonhuman animals,  our attitude towards them must change dramatically.

We’ll have more events in other countries in coming months. As always, we’ll keep you posted!
