30 Jun 2018

Description:

Fixed term part time research analyst

Location:

Remote, open to international candidates

Time:

Fixed term, from August 1st to December 15th (4 ½ months)

Animal Ethics is an international charity dedicated to the defense of all sentient beings. We have an antispeciesist approach and are committed to defending animals under exploitation and spreading veganism, while focusing in particular on raising awareness about wild animal suffering and the ways to help animals in the wild.

Animal Ethics is currently doing research aimed at identifying the attitudes of academics in biology and animal welfare science towards the study of the wellbeing of animals in the wild and towards different forms of interventions for reducing wild animal suffering. The results of this research will be published in a report that will be shared with other organizations. We’ll use it in assessing what might be the most promising ways to promote academic research on welfare biology. It will also provide the basis for future research on this topic.

Thus far, our research has been qualitative, and now intend to start a quantitative study using both online and paper questionnaires targeting biology scholars and students in different parts of the world. We are looking for someone to carry out this research project. This person will be helped by Animal Ethics staff members and volunteers, but should be able to successfully complete this research independently.

Position responsibilities:

  • Planning, completing and evaluating a research project.
  • Getting in touch with life sciences students and scholars participating in the study.

Candidate requirements:

  • A pro-active attitude.
  • The ability to plan and evaluate research projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
  • This position is remote, so there is no location requirement.
  • Occasional travel might be required.
  • A commitment to Animal Ethics’s vision and values is strongly preferred.
